CDJ-2000NXS
Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000NXS
The CDJ-2000NXS, often written CDJ-2000nexus, replaced the original CDJ-2000 in September 2012 and was itself replaced by the CDJ-2000NXS2 in early 2016. It plays audio CDs, data CDs and DVDs, USB devices and SD cards, and handles MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF files. The nexus generation brought four-deck Beat Sync across Pro DJ Link, Slip Mode, Hot Cue Auto Load and Quantize, along with a full-colour screen showing Wave Zoom, a beat countdown, a phase meter and the track key. It was also the first CDJ able to play music from a smartphone or tablet, connected through a wireless router plugged into the player’s LAN port rather than a built-in Wi-Fi radio. Over USB it can act as an HID or MIDI controller for rekordbox, Traktor and Serato DJ Pro. Compared with the NXS2 it lacks the 7-inch touch screen, uses a 24-bit/48 kHz sound card rather than 96 kHz/24-bit, and does not play FLAC or ALAC files, but the core layout and Pro DJ Link workflow are the same.

- Typical eBay ask (Oct 3, 2026)
- $1,600–$2,800 used
- Confirm the rear-panel model label reads CDJ-2000NXS, since listings often mix it up with the original CDJ-2000 and the NXS2.
- Ask the seller to show the firmware version on screen, and update to the latest from the Pioneer DJ or AlphaTheta support site (version 1.44 was released in February 2024).
- Ask for a video that loads both a CD and a USB stick, and test the SD slot if you plan to use it.
- Check the jog wheel, play and cue buttons, hot cue buttons and pitch fader for wear, sticking or crackle.
- If you will link players, ask for a Pro DJ Link demo showing Beat Sync working with a second unit.
- Make sure your rekordbox export writes the older Device Library format, because AlphaTheta says players of this generation do not read the newer OneLibrary format.
Buying guide
OCT 3, 2026Which one to buy · from Oct 3, 2026 listings
97 CDJ-2000NXS players are listed, none for parts, and complete ones ask a wide $1,600–2,800 delivered, partly because several Japan-based sellers add $300–500 shipping. A tested-looking unit at about $1,408 delivered sits under that band, so there is little reason to pay $2,300 or more for the same player. Confirm the rear label reads CDJ-2000NXS (listings mix it up with the CDJ-2000 and NXS2), ask for a video loading a CD and a USB stick, and remember it doesn't play FLAC or ALAC. Skip the 'Via DHL or Fedex' title three sellers share at about $3,383–3,515, well over the band.

Media, cables and a case
A used CDJ-2000NXS usually arrives without the extras. Budget for reliable USB drives or SD cards for your exported library, a LAN cable if you link players, and a case or dust cover if it travels.
