Used Technics

Technics is the audio brand of Panasonic, formerly Matsushita Electric, and in DJ terms it means the SL-1200. The series began in October 1972 as a direct-drive hi-fi turntable, and the 1979 SL-1200MK2 added quartz-locked speed control and a slider pitch control that made it the standard deck for beatmatching and scratching. Later MK3, MK3D, MK5, MK5G and MK6 models refined the same basic design, with black versions sold under SL-1210 model numbers. Panasonic announced the end of Technics analog turntables in November 2010, relaunched the brand in 2014, brought the SL-1200 back as the hi-fi SL-1200G in 2016 and returned to DJs with the SL-1200MK7 in 2019. Technics puts cumulative sales of the series at about 3.5 million units. Used decks span five decades, so condition, region and mains voltage matter as much as the model number.
