Pioneer DJ CDJ-2000NXS2
The CDJ-2000NXS2 is the third generation of Pioneer DJ’s CDJ-2000 flagship, announced in January 2016 alongside the DJM-900NXS2 mixer and replacing the CDJ-2000NXS. It added a 7-inch full-colour touch screen with a Qwerty keyboard and track filtering, eight colour-coded hot cues in two banks of four, a 96 kHz/24-bit sound card and playback of FLAC and Apple Lossless files alongside MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF. It still has a disc drive for audio CDs and data CDs or DVDs, plus USB and SD slots, and Pro DJ Link over LAN lets up to four players share one source and sync to rekordbox beat grids. Over USB it works as an HID controller for rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, Traktor and djay. It was the last flagship CDJ with a CD drive: the CDJ-3000 that followed in 2020 dropped the slot in favour of a bigger screen and a new processor. That makes the NXS2 the pick for DJs who still want CDs in the booth, or who want the layout most club players learned on without paying for a CDJ-3000.

- Typical eBay ask (Oct 3, 2026)
- $2,075–$2,575 used
- Ask for a video of the 7-inch touch screen responding across its whole surface while browsing and using the keyboard.
- Check the play and cue buttons, all eight hot cue pads and the jog wheel in both vinyl and CDJ modes, as these take the most wear in a booth.
- Load an audio CD and a USB stick in the same video to confirm the disc drive and USB slot both read, and test the SD slot if you plan to use it.
- Ask the seller to show the firmware version on screen, then update to the latest firmware from the Pioneer DJ or AlphaTheta support site (version 1.86 was released in February 2024).
- If you will link several players, confirm the LAN port works by asking for a Pro DJ Link demo with a second player or a laptop running rekordbox.
- Make sure your rekordbox export writes the older Device Library format, since AlphaTheta says players of this generation do not read the newer OneLibrary format and rekordbox 7.2.11 or later exports both.
- Check the rear label so the serial number matches any receipt or warranty paperwork offered.
Buying guide
OCT 3, 2026Which one to buy · from Oct 3, 2026 listings
72 CDJ-2000NXS2s are listed, none for parts, and most complete players ask $2,075–2,575 delivered; two good-feedback sellers sit at the bottom of that band at about $2,091 and $2,128, both stating 110-240V. Ask for a video showing the touch screen across its whole surface, a CD and a USB stick loading, and the firmware version on screen, then update to the latest (1.86 came out in February 2024). Check shipping too: several sellers add $300 or more, and a unit listed from Japan without a voltage should have its rear label checked. Red flags: three zero-feedback sellers at about $2,037–2,200, a title copied word for word by another seller at about $1,989, and an 'excellent condition' player at about $3,149 with nothing extra stated.

$2,128 shipped with Best Offer and 110-240V stated, low in the band; the title is cut off at 'Operation', so ask whether it was checked.

Media, cables and a case
A used CDJ-2000NXS2 usually arrives without the extras. Budget for reliable USB drives or SD cards for your exported library, a LAN cable if you link players, and a case or dust cover if it travels.
