Pioneer DJ DJM-900NXS2
The DJM-900NXS2 is the four-channel mixer Pioneer DJ unveiled in January 2016 alongside the CDJ-2000NXS2, and that pairing became the standard club booth setup for years. It was the company’s first mixer with a 64-bit mixing processor, running at 96 kHz, and it adds a parameter knob to the six Sound Color FX (Sweep, Filter, Crush, Dub Echo, Noise and Space), 14 Beat FX controlled from a large X-Pad, and FX Frequency buttons that limit an effect to chosen frequency bands. An independent send/return lets you run external hardware or an iPad app alongside the built-in effects. Each of the four channels has a phono input, and two USB ports with built-in 96 kHz/24-bit sound cards let two laptops connect at once for a clean changeover. The crossfader is Pioneer’s contactless Magvel type. It supports Pro DJ Link for up to four players and DVS control in rekordbox (a paid add-on or plan feature), Serato DJ Pro (with the paid DVS Expansion Pack) and TRAKTOR PRO 3. Pioneer DJ named the DJM-A9 as its successor in 2023 and now lists the 900NXS2 as an archived product. Choose it over the DJM-450 when you need four channels and the club-standard layout.

- Typical eBay ask (Oct 3, 2026)
- $1,675–$2,725 used
- Ask for a video of the crossfader and all four channel faders moving end to end with music playing, listening for dropouts or crackle.
- Turn every EQ, trim and Sound Color FX knob while audio plays and listen for scratchy pots or a channel cutting out.
- Connect a laptop to each of the two USB ports and confirm the mixer appears as an audio device in rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro.
- Trigger a Beat FX on the X-Pad and check that the display and the BPM counter respond.
- Test all four phono inputs if you play vinyl, because a seller who only tests line sources can miss a dead phono stage.
- Link it to your players over LAN if you use Pro DJ Link and confirm they share track information.
- Ask the seller to update the firmware with Pioneer DJ’s Firmware Update Manager and check current driver support for your computer’s operating system on Pioneer DJ’s support site.
- If it is a DJM-900NXS2-W, check that the numbered plaque is present.
Buying guide

100 DJM-900NXS2s are listed, none for parts, and most ask $1,675–2,725 delivered. Whatever you buy, ask for a video of the crossfader and all four channel faders with music playing, every EQ and FX knob turned, both USB ports showing up in rekordbox or Serato DJ Pro, and the phono inputs tested if you play vinyl. The lowest asks are a Best Offer at about $1,262 and a Buy It Now at about $1,588, both under the band, while a unit titled as tested sits mid-band at about $2,162. Skip a $4,999 ask with nothing to justify it and a 95.7% seller using a title four sellers share.

Cables and a case
Check what comes with a used DJM-900NXS2: power cable, USB cable if it has a sound card, and a decksaver or case if it travels. Contact cleaner helps with noisy pots; worn faders are a parts job.
