Pioneer DJ CDJ-900NXS
The CDJ-900NXS is the nexus-generation version of Pioneer DJ’s CDJ-900, introduced at the end of 2013 as the step below the CDJ-2000NXS. Pioneer never released a CDJ-900NXS2, so listings using that name almost always mean this player. It keeps a disc drive for CDs and plays MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF files from USB devices, but Pioneer lists only CD and USB as its sources, without the SD slot and DVD playback of the CDJ-2000NXS. It shares much of the nexus feature set: a full-colour LCD with Wave Zoom, beat countdown, phase meter and key display, four-deck Beat Sync over Pro DJ Link, Slip Mode, Quantize and Beat Divide, plus smartphone playback through a wireless router on the LAN. Over USB it is MIDI-assignable and controls Traktor and Serato DJ Pro without control discs. AlphaTheta still lists it as compatible with rekordbox export and Performance mode. It suits DJs who want a linkable, rekordbox-ready player at a lower cost than the 2000-series models.

- Typical eBay ask (Oct 3, 2026)
- $1,175–$1,650 used
- Confirm the rear-panel label reads CDJ-900NXS, because the earlier CDJ-900 lacks the nexus features and there is no official CDJ-900NXS2.
- Ask for a video that loads a CD and a rekordbox-prepared USB stick, showing the colour waveform and saved cue points.
- Check the jog wheel, play and cue buttons, loop buttons and pitch fader for wear, sticking or crackle.
- If you plan to link players, ask for a Pro DJ Link demo over LAN showing Beat Sync with a second unit or rekordbox.
- Ask the seller to show the firmware version on screen, and update to the latest from the Pioneer DJ or AlphaTheta support site (version 1.31 was posted in October 2017).
- Make sure your rekordbox export writes the older Device Library format, because players of this generation do not read the newer OneLibrary format.
Buying guide
OCT 3, 2026Which one to buy · from Oct 3, 2026 listings
106 CDJ-900NXS players are listed, none for parts, and most complete ones ask $1,175–1,650 delivered (Pioneer never made a CDJ-900NXS2, so listings using that name mean this player). Confirm the rear label reads CDJ-900NXS rather than the older CDJ-900, which lacks the nexus features, and ask for a video loading a CD and a rekordbox USB stick with the colour waveform showing; it has no SD slot. Good options sit low in the band: about $1,185 shipped with Best Offer, a boxed unit at about $1,333, and a retailer's demo unit at $1,489 shipped. Avoid a zero-feedback seller with a copied title at about $988 and a $2,126 ask well over the band.

Media, cables and a case
A used CDJ-900NXS usually arrives without the extras. Budget for reliable USB drives or SD cards for your exported library, a LAN cable if you link players, and a case or dust cover if it travels.
