CDJ-850
Pioneer DJ CDJ-850
The CDJ-850 replaced the CDJ-800MK2 in 2010 as an affordable rekordbox-enabled player in Pioneer DJ’s CDJ range. It was designed to feel and work like a CDJ-900 or CDJ-2000 while costing less, so it has a disc drive for audio CDs and CD-Rs carrying MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF files, plus a USB slot for drives prepared in rekordbox. Its display shows title, artist, BPM and the track waveform, and it adds Auto Beat Loop at 1, 2, 4 or 8 beats and Tag List for building a set list on the fly. The big trade-off is networking: the CDJ-850 has no LAN port, so it cannot use Pro DJ Link to share one USB stick or sync beats with other players, and each deck needs its own drive. A rear USB port connects it to a computer as an HID controller for rekordbox and other DJ software. AlphaTheta still lists it for rekordbox USB export. It suits home and mobile DJs who want the CDJ layout for less money.

- Typical eBay ask (Oct 3, 2026)
- $550–$900 used
- Remember the CDJ-850 has no LAN port or Pro DJ Link, so plan on a separate rekordbox-exported USB stick for each player.
- Ask for a video that loads an audio CD and a USB stick, plays both and shows the waveform on the display.
- Check the jog wheel, play and cue buttons, loop buttons and pitch fader for wear, sticking or crackle.
- Make sure the rear audio outputs give clean sound on both channels with no dropouts.
- Ask the seller to show the firmware version, and update to the latest from the Pioneer DJ or AlphaTheta support site (version 1.13 was posted in February 2018).
- Make sure your rekordbox export writes the older Device Library format, since players of this generation do not read the newer OneLibrary format.
Buying guide
OCT 3, 2026Which one to buy · from Oct 3, 2026 listings
113 CDJ-850s are listed, one for parts, and most complete players ask $550–900 delivered, with a tested unit at about $568 near the bottom of that band. Remember it has no LAN port or Pro DJ Link, so each player needs its own rekordbox USB stick, and ask for a video that plays a CD and a USB stick with the waveform showing. Check the jog wheel, loop buttons and pitch fader for wear, and update the firmware after purchase (1.13 was posted in February 2018). Avoid a zero-feedback seller with a copied title at about $554 and a white CDJ-850-W at about $2,094, more than three times the typical price.

Media, cables and a case
A used CDJ-850 usually arrives without the extras. Budget for reliable USB drives or SD cards for your exported library, a LAN cable if you link players, and a case or dust cover if it travels.
