Denon DJ SC6000 Prime
The SC6000 Prime is Denon DJ’s flagship standalone media player, announced in January 2020 as a larger sibling to the SC5000 Prime. It runs Engine DJ OS on board, so it analyzes tracks and plays them from USB drives, an SD card or a drive fitted in its internal 2.5-inch SATA bay, with no laptop involved. The top panel is dominated by a 10.1-inch touchscreen above an 8.5-inch metal jog wheel with adjustable tension and a small color display in its center. Like the SC5000, one unit can play two tracks at once on two layers, each with its own outputs. Built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet give access to Beatport LINK, Beatsource LINK, SoundCloud Go+, TIDAL and Dropbox, and StageLinQ ties the players to the X1850 Prime mixer and to lighting and video tools. A Controller Mode lets it drive Serato DJ Pro or VirtualDJ on a computer. Libraries are prepared in Engine DJ Desktop, so it suits DJs who want a laptop-free booth and are happy to work outside rekordbox. The SC6000M Prime is the motorized-platter version.
We haven’t reviewed current listings for the SC6000 Prime yet.
Until we do, search eBay for the exact model number and run the checklist above on every listing: ask for a video of it powered up with every control working, and for what has been repaired or replaced.
A used SC6000 Prime usually arrives without the extras. Budget for reliable USB drives or SD cards for your exported library, a LAN cable if you link players, and a case or dust cover if it travels.
