Allen & Heath Xone:96
The Xone:96 is Allen & Heath’s follow-up to the Xone:92, announced in June 2018 and still listed in the current Xone range. It keeps an analogue signal path, a four-band EQ on its four main stereo channels and dual Xone:VCF filters, and adds CRUNCH, a controlled harmonic distortion stage before the filter. The two stereo return channels became full strips with a new three-band parametric EQ, and the rear panel carries two stereo sends, four stereo returns and a master insert for outboard gear. The big change is digital. Two independent USB connections, each with six stereo inputs and outputs, form a 24-channel, 32-bit/96 kHz sound card that is certified for Traktor Scratch DVS out of the box. Two separate headphone cue systems, a booth output with its own three-band EQ, two turntable ground posts, MIDI over USB and five-pin, and X:Link for Xone:K controllers round it out. Channel faders are 60 mm VCA types and the crossfader is an Innofader Mini, all plug-in replaceable. Compared with the Xone:92 it suits DJs who want laptops, back-to-back changeovers and hardware effects in one analogue mixer.

- Check both headphone cue systems and the booth EQ.

Buying guide
OCT 3, 2026Which one to buy · from Oct 3, 2026 listings
37 Xone:96s are listed, none for parts, and most listings in this snapshot are retailers (idjnow.com, Perfect Circuit, Sweetwater, rockandsoul) at about $2,275–2,500 shipped, so the $2,375–2,525 band is mostly the $2,499 new price. A used Xone:96 should come in clearly under that; ask for both USB ports shown working as audio devices on a laptop, both filters and CRUNCH swept with resonance up, and every fader and the crossfader moved end to end. The lowest ask is a B-stock unit at $2,245 shipped. Skip a zero-feedback seller using a retailer's title at about $2,341 and a Japan listing at $2,724, above the new price.

Heads-up: priced high
$2,724 shipped, about $225 more than the new unit from Perfect Circuit; if it's a 100 V Japanese unit it would also need a step-down transformer on US or European mains.

Cables and a case
Check what comes with a used Xone:96: power cable, USB cable if it has a sound card, and a decksaver or case if it travels. Contact cleaner helps with noisy pots; worn faders are a parts job.
