Allen & Heath Xone:23
The Xone:23 is Allen & Heath’s compact two-channel analogue mixer, launched in 2014 as the entry-level replacement for the ageing Xone:22. Each channel takes a phono/line pair and a line pair with separate input level controls, so up to four stereo sources can feed the mix, and each channel has a three-band EQ with total kill. Instead of a filter per channel there is one analogue Xone:VCF filter, switchable between high-pass and low-pass with frequency and resonance controls, which you assign to either or both channels. The faders are VCA types and the crossfader has a smooth or sharp curve switch; DJWORX found it can take a custom mini Innofader sold by Allen & Heath. There is an XLR mic input with two-band EQ, a balanced XLR master output, RCA booth and record outputs, an external effects loop and both 6.35 mm and 3.5 mm headphone sockets, but the power supply is an external unit. The Xone:23C version added a built-in USB sound card. Allen & Heath’s current range lists the Xone:24 and Xone:24C instead. It suits home and small-bar DJs who want the Xone filter and sound without a club-size mixer.

- Confirm the external power supply is included, since the mixer will not run without it.
- Sweep the filter in both high-pass and low-pass modes with resonance up and listen for scratchy pots or dropouts.
- Test the three EQ bands and kills on both channels with music playing.
- Turn each of the four input level controls and check every input passes audio, including the phono inputs with a turntable connected.
- Move both channel faders and the crossfader end to end and listen for crackle or dead spots.
- Try both crossfader curve settings.
- Ask whether an Innofader has been fitted or the internal phono-to-line modification has been made, because both involve opening the case.
- Make sure the unit is a Xone:23 and not a Xone:23C or Xone:24, which have different features.
Buying guide
OCT 3, 2026Which one to buy · from Oct 3, 2026 listings
38 Xone:23s are listed, one for parts, and most complete ones ask $525–775 delivered, though this snapshot caught only six listings, so treat the band as a rough guide. The mixer runs on an external power supply, so confirm it's included, and ask for a video of the filter swept in both high-pass and low-pass with resonance up, both channels' EQ kills, and every input played, including phono with a turntable. The best buys are about $455 with Best Offer and about $530 with a Road Ready case, while the only unit titled as tested, with box and adapter, costs about $889. Avoid the two listings that share the same photo and title from different sellers.

Cables and a case
Check what comes with a used Xone:23: power cable, USB cable if it has a sound card, and a decksaver or case if it travels. Contact cleaner helps with noisy pots; worn faders are a parts job.
